"The modest, lowly violet In leaves of tender green is set; So rich she cannot hide from view, But covers all the bank with blue." Quote by: Dora Read Goodale

"The violets thinks, with her timid blue eye, To pass for a blossom enchantingly shy."

Oops! The message said they couldn't process my request to post my comment so I tried a second time. As you can tell I'm not very adept at blog stuff.

"Violet Raines Almost Got Struck by Lightning" is one of the best titles I've heard in a long time. Now that I've read the Kirkus review on Verla's board I am itching to read your book.

So... please pick me!

Here's one more Violet for good measure.

Violet and I are meant to be BFFs!

I would never put Violet on a bookshelf. That's for dust collectors like Shakespeare and the encyclopedia. And besides, Violet would never stand for sitting still high up on some bookshelf collecting dust. She needs to move, to live, to explore and be read, read, read... by me, by my kids, by all their friends, by all my writer friends... And she needs to be given as a gift at birthday parties. She needs to go on car rides and bike rides, on camping trips toasting marshmallows by the fire. She needs to be read under a blanket with a flashlight, even though Mom said it's time for lights out...

On please, oh please, oh please. I would love to win your book! I promise to read her and take very special care of her.

Congratulations, Danette!!!

And congratulations on the almost birthday of Violet Raines! Florida writers are rocking the children's book world!

Have you or your publisher contacted www.teensreadtoo.com to review your book? (I have a niggling feeling that I already asked you this and someone at TRT is already reviewing it, but I can't remember for sure.)

Let us know. And tell Jen, our TRT administrator, that this reviewer would be pleased to review it for her!

I'm so thrilled for you!

YAY -- I'm number 40!

Violet were her eyes, flashing with lightning. Or were they flashing with lightening? No, no, they weren't flashing with anything, they were full of thunder...

(Seriously, though, I can never get the spelling right between those two. The number of times I've embarrassed myself -- gee, you'd think I'd learn.)

Even if I win, I'll buy a copy of your book!

Hey Danette!
