On Making Book Trailers
I'm absolutely in love with some book trailers I've recently discovered. I'd love for you to see them! After the jump, I've posted some links to sites with good instructions for making your own book trailer, something I'm going to try for The Summer of Moonlight Secrets.
The first two trailers were created by Maggie Stiefvater. The amazing thing about Maggie's trailers is that she created the art, composed the music, and played the instruments for both videos. Even if there were no books to stand behind them, these trailers are pieces of art.

I know I'm an old fogey but I absolutely hate book trailers. I've never seen one that made me want to buy the book and quite often have been absolutely turned off by the trailer. Like, I say, I'm an old fogey and probably nearly everyone in the world other than I would have a different reaction to them. But for me, there is a reason I read books, and at least part of it is because they are not movies and TV. Anything that smacks of movies and TV where books are concerned gives me an automatic negative reaction, like a case of hives. I do not want my own visualization of the book to be ruined by someone else's visualization. I don't want their sense of drama to overwhelm my own.
Like I said, :) don't go by me, though. Most people feel differently, but I yam what I yam.
