Violet Raines, Van Won't Start, Shopping (Yuck), and Garage Sales!

The revisions on Violet Raines Almost Got Struck By Lightning have been accepted and the manuscript is now in copyediting! How exciting! Other bloggers have recently posted about seeing their cover art for the first time. I can't wait to see mine. It'll be interesting to view another person's interpretation, or what they feel best represents the book. Things are moving along!

In other news, my van would not start today. I feel well-versed in certain mechanical problems such as alternators, CV boots, and brake pads. I don't know how to fix them, but I know what they sound like, thanks to the cars I owned during my singlehood. When I called my husband and described the problem, he said alternator, which was exactly what I had diagnosed. Ha!

I plan to shop over the Internet today. I haven't started my shopping yet, can you believe it? Decorating, yes; shopping, no. Don't tell anyone, but I don't like going to the mall. Aack! There! I've said it! I hate shopping. And even over the Internet, it can take hours trying to review similar products and get customer reviews (since you aren't actually handling the item). But such is my assignment today.

The other big news is that my little mommy is in town! I have loaded up on one dollar bills and quarters so we can hit the garage sales this Friday. (She leaves Friday night.) No one beats my mom at a garage sale; click here to read about the master at work.

YAY! I so hate shopping too... (Except for books of course). Crowds are really not my thing.

I'm with you on hating shopping, Danette. I get annoyed by all the excess marketing and scads of people trying to buy presents last minute. Hmm, uh people like me sometimes? lol Yep, the internet is the way to go! Cheers and happy e-shopping!

So true, Cate. I hate crowds!

Edna,
Thanks! And happy cyber-shopping to you, too!

Thanks, Charles. I can't wait to see the cover--I can't wait to post it!

Have fun giving birth to your book. It must be exciting to see how an illustrator will interpret your story. Will there be drawings to accompany any of the text or just the big cover illustration? If I ever get a novel published, I want little drawings throughout the whole book -- maybe one a chapter. i just love that!

Anyhow, have fun Christmas shopping. I've started, too, but still have more to do (not to mention buy a tree).

I need to do some Amazon shopping also!

I hate shopping.

Oh, admit it. You love shopping.

I have loaded up on one dollar bills and quarters so we can hit the garage sales this Friday.

See? Told you so.

By the way, please let us know when VIOLET RAINES gets listed on Amazon. I post covers as links on my blog on behalf of my blogging buddies, including those in denial about their passion for shopping.

Good news about your book cover, and I believe that you hate shopping. I hate it as well, and suspect that there are many more like us who are simply ashamed to admit it.

Garage sales are not shopping, per se. They are economizing.

Thanks, Stella! No illustrations in Violet Raines, just the cover art. Happy tree hunting!

Ello,
Amazon is a wondrous place!

Ha! Stephen! Garage saling (saleing?) is a fine art not recognized by many. People often go to garage sales, but only an elite few have the finesse to encompass the many nuances that are the garage sale experience. I learned the art from my mom, but she's still much better at it than I am.

Plus, with garage sales, you get to view someone else's LIFE, on sale for a quarter. And the best garage sales are estate sales, where you get to go in the house. I love those! :)

I would love for my cover to appear in your sidebar! Thanks for the offer.

Thanks, Mary! Maybe we should make T-shirts: i h8 2 shop.

Can't wait to see and read Violet Raines...how exciting this process must be for you...

I only shop online...black Friday means floppy slippers and P.J's in front of my laptop on my overstuffed chair.

shopzilla.com is a good place to go. They will do a lot of the comparison shopping for you...saves me a lot of time...

! Congratulations on finishing the revisions on Violet & being on the copyediting stage! I can't wait to see your cover either. !!!! That's so great!

Not so great about the van, though. And I hope the shopping went well! I hate the mall too bleh. I had to go there yesterday TO shop (for what I couldn't get online) and I'm still recovering. Never again! At least not until the next major holiday.

Have a great time with your mom! :)

Now that's an amazing quote and story starter. :-)

Thanks, WriterKat! That line appears in and is the concept behind one of my WIP short stories.
